European Palestinian Council for Political Relations EUPAC condemned Thursday, May 4, 2023, at a conference held in Brussels on the Palestinian Nakba, the speech of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Israeli occupation state, which is the Nakba for Palestinians
Today, Wednesday, the “European Palestinian Council for Political Relations – EUPAC concluded the activities of its second political conference, entitled “75 Years and the Nakba Continues.”
The conference was held in the Belgian capital, Brussels, with the participation and attendance of European and Palestinian parliamentarians, politicians, jurists, academics, media figures, activists, and civil society institutions, who shed light on the repercussions of the Nakba on the Palestinian people and the continuous Israeli crimes against them.
The participants stressed that the Nakba is still ongoing, and the Palestinian people have not obtained their right to justice and protection.
They called for joint action and coordination between those who support the rights of the Palestinian people and the right to self-determination to hold them accountable through political and legal means.
On April 26, Leyen delivered a speech congratulating the Israeli occupation state on the 75th anniversary of its founding (the Nakba), describing the Israeli occupation as “the vibrant democracy in the heart of the Middle East” and claiming that “Israel” made “the desert literally bloom”.
