Israel intensifies assault on Jenin refugee camp for second consecutive day

DaysofPal- For the eighth consecutive day, the Israeli occupation has intensified its relentless assault on the Gaza Strip, committing horrific massacres against civilians and flagrantly violating the ceasefire agreement signed on January 19 with the Islamic Resistance Movement, Hamas. The ongoing aggression has left thousands dead and wounded, deepening the humanitarian catastrophe in the besieged territory.

According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, the death toll from the Israeli aggression has now risen to 50,082 martyrs, with 113,408 others injured, since October 7, 2023. The latest wave of violence has been marked by indiscriminate airstrikes targeting residential neighborhoods, displacement camps, and even areas housing displaced families seeking refuge.

Fresh Attacks Claim Lives Across Gaza

In a devastating strike on Monday, the Civil Defense in Gaza reported that five people were killed and 12 others injured when Israeli occupation forces bombed the Jawdat Building near the Al-Farouq Mosque in the Al-Zeitoun neighborhood, southeast of Gaza City. The building’s proximity to civilian infrastructure underscores the indiscriminate nature of the attacks.

In Khan Yunis, Israeli airstrikes targeted the Qizan al-Najjar area, killing two individuals, including a child. The victims were identified as Obada Ziad al-Najjar and Wassim Ziad al-Najjar , whose deaths have added to the mounting toll of innocent lives lost. In another brutal attack, Israeli occupation forces bombed a tent sheltering displaced persons near Hamad City, north of Khan Yunis, resulting in the deaths of six people and injuring several others.

The carnage extended to the Al-Majayda area west of Khan Yunis, where Israeli aircraft targeted a group of civilians on Al-Nas Street in the Al-Mawasi area, killing one person and injuring others. Similarly, in the Al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, Israeli forces struck the home of the Abu al-Rus family, leaving three people dead and several others injured.

In Deir al-Balah, Israeli airstrikes hit the Al-Zurai’i family home on Al-Nakhl Street, claiming multiple lives and wounding others. Local sources also confirmed that a displaced persons’ chalet in the Al-Qura’an area of Al-Zawayda was bombed, resulting in the death of one individual.

Artillery Fire Targets Northern and Southern Gaza

Israeli artillery continued its relentless bombardment of civilian areas across the Gaza Strip. Western Beit Lahia, located in the northern part of the enclave, came under heavy fire, as did Rafah in the south. In Rafah, Israeli airstrikes targeted a group of civilians in the Musbah area, injuring several individuals. Meanwhile, in Beit Lahia, the Alian family home was bombed, killing three citizens.

Simultaneously, Gaza City endured three consecutive airstrikes , one of which targeted an empty jeep in the Al-Tayaran area. While no casualties were reported in this instance, the psychological toll on residents remains immense, as they live in constant fear of further attacks.

These atrocities come despite the ceasefire agreement reached earlier this year between Israeli occupation and Hamas. The blatant disregard for the truce has drawn widespread condemnation from international observers and human rights organizations, who accuse Israeli occupation of perpetrating war crimes and crimes against humanity.

A Humanitarian Catastrophe Deepens

Medical sources in Gaza paint a grim picture of the situation on the ground. Hospitals are overwhelmed with casualties, many of whom are children and elderly civilians. With shortages of medical supplies, fuel, and electricity, healthcare providers struggle to offer even basic treatment to the wounded. Meanwhile, displaced families continue to seek shelter wherever possible, often in makeshift tents or abandoned buildings—only to find themselves targeted in subsequent attacks.

Local sources describe scenes of chaos and despair, as families mourn their loved ones while bracing for further strikes. “There is nowhere safe anymore,” said one resident in Khan Yunis. “We are being hunted down, even in places we thought would protect us.”

As the death toll continues to rise, the people of Gaza endure unimaginable suffering, caught in the crosshairs of what many have described as a systematic campaign of genocide. For now, their resilience stands as a testament to the human spirit’s capacity to endure, even in the darkest of times—but at what cost?
