Medical sources at the Arab Baptist Hospital in Gaza City issued Wednesday a statement on the current situation inside the hospital, saying that they are doing utmost efforts to save what can be saved.
The medical staff eliminated that the intensive care is not available at the hospital, which is an essential sentence to death for hundreds of patients.
They added that many injuries are reported in head or skull, which is hard to deal with in absence of main medical supplies. Some cases, they added, result in death due to its severity.
Furthermore, sme cases require intensive care after surgery, and in the absence of ICU rooms, these people pass away immediately after surgery.
“Most of the medical stock is running out, especially medical screens used in operations and replacements,” the sourcea added, shedding light thay many painkillers and antibiotics are not available, along with some anesthesia drugs.
Different threads used in surgeries, as well as plates and platinum used in fractures, are also not available, which forced them to use inappropriate tools not designed for some injuries.
The hospital has turned to a displacement center, in which all areas have been filled with the wounded people, and the staff have started placing them in places not designated or prepared to receive patients, such as stairwells.
The deterioration of conditions isn’t bounded to Baptist only, but all the enclave’s medical centers have gone under Israeli attack and been fatally affected.
Since October 7, 160 health institutions were targeted by the Israeli occupation; 33 hospitals have been rendered out of service by the Israeli attacks, 55 of health centers that the occupation took over are now out of service. In addition, 130 ambulances were targeted by the Israeli airstrikes.
All of the mentioned destruction has left 78,827 wounded people in need of to travel for “life-saving and dangerous” treatment, 11,000 of whom are in need to conduct medical operations. Furthermore, 10,000 cancer patients are at verge of death and need treatment. 350,000 chronic patients are at risk due to non-administration of medications.
