DaysofPal- The Hamas Movement has issued a strong warning following the preliminary approval of a controversial bill in Israeli occupation that allows the execution of Palestinian prisoners.
In a statement released Wednesday, Hamas described the move by a committee in the Knesset as a dangerous and terrorist step that could pave the way for the killing and liquidation of Palestinian detainees held in Israeli prisons.
According to the statement, the group said the initial approval of the bill, often referred to as the execution of prisoners law, reflects an unprecedented level of brutality within the Israeli system, noting that it is openly violating international laws and conventions related to prisoners of war.
Hamas further warned that the proposed legislation would effectively turn prisons into sites of direct execution, alleging that detainees have already been subjected to slow killing through torture, deprivation, and medical neglect.
The Movement held Israeli occupation responsible for any consequences resulting from the legislation, stating that any harm to Palestinian prisoners would be considered a red line that could open the doors to anger and confrontation by all means.
Hamas also called on Palestinians and supporters across the region to intensify solidarity efforts and escalate public actions in support of prisoners.
Additionally, it urged the international community, human rights organizations, and advocacy groups to take immediate action to prevent the law from being fully enacted.
The proposed bill has sparked widespread concern among Palestinian factions and rights groups, who fear it could mark a significant shift in Israeli policy toward detainees if passed into law.
