Hamas Leader Details Israeli Attempt to Kill Delegation in Doha Talks

DaysofPal – Hamas official Ghazi Hamad revealed that an Israeli assassination attempt targeted the movement’s delegation last week in Doha while they were reviewing a US proposal with advisors.

In an interview, Hamad said the attack came less than an hour into the meeting when the sound of missiles made it clear the gathering had been identified as a target. About a dozen rockets struck within a single minute, forcing the leaders to evacuate immediately. The delegation, accustomed to surviving air raids in Gaza, managed to escape unharmed.

Hamad warned that the incident in Qatar shows Arab and Islamic capitals are no longer safe. “Cairo, Riyadh, Baghdad, and Amman are not immune from this US-backed Israeli madness,” he said. He described the strike as a dangerous escalation, proving that Israel intends to extend its aggression far beyond Gaza.

The Hamas leader stressed that Israel’s actions present a direct challenge to Arab and Islamic nations, pointing to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s talk of “redrawing the map of the Middle East,” coupled with ongoing bombings in Beirut and Damascus.

U.S. Under Fire

Hamad accused Washington of complicity, arguing that the attack could not have occurred without American knowledge. He said US mediation has been “bitter” from the start, citing envoy Steve Wietkoff’s repeated reversals and clear alignment with Israeli positions.

He singled out President Donald Trump, claiming the strike happened just hours after Hamas had submitted its response to mediators in Doha. Despite Qatar’s status as a key US ally, Trump “failed to prevent an attack on Qatari soil,” Hamad said, insisting that this failure highlights Washington’s unwillingness to restrain Israel.

“Trump has always stood on the wrong side of history, enabling Israel’s war crimes and pushing it to continue the war instead of seeking peace,” Hamad declared.

According to Hamad, the assassination attempt in Doha is part of Israel’s broader strategy to eliminate Palestinian leadership, dismantle Gaza, and push ethnic cleansing under US protection.

“Israel has crossed all red lines,” he said. “Its strike in Doha proves it seeks to impose peace through force and thuggery, not diplomacy.”

Hamad argued that Israel is pursuing a “bloody agenda” that threatens not only Palestinians but also the wider region. He urged Arab and international powers to respond decisively, warning that silence would invite further attacks across the Middle East.

Responding to Trump’s threats over Israeli captives held in Gaza, Hamad insisted that Hamas would not bow to pressure. “We act based on our legitimate and religious principles,” he said, adding that those bombing Gaza are the true danger to the hostages’ lives.

The interview marked Hamad’s first public appearance since the April 9 bombing in Doha, which killed one Qatari soldier and five Palestinians.

In his remarks, he made clear that Hamas sees no neutrality in Washington’s role. “The US has proven it is not a mediator but a partner in genocide,” he said.
