DaysofPal- The head of the World Health Organization (WHO) has warned that Israeli ground offensive and evacuation orders in northern Gaza are forcibly driving thousands of families into areas that are not fit for human life.
WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said many of the displaced include the wounded and people with disabilities who are unable to move to safer locations, leaving them at “direct risk of death” amid ongoing military operations in the north of the enclave.
Ghebreyesus cautioned that Gaza’s hospitals are now on the brink of collapse, as continued violence blocks the delivery of urgent, life-saving medical supplies to affected areas.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza has deteriorated sharply since the Israeli genocide began nearly two years ago.
According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 65,062 Palestinians have been killed and 165,697 injured since October 7, 2023, most of them women and children at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces.
Famine conditions have also claimed the lives of 432 people, including 146 children.
The WHO chief urged all parties to allow safe humanitarian access and to protect civilians caught in the escalating conflict.
