DayofPal– Hamas movement in Gaza presented commemorative gifts to three Israeli female captives released on Sunday as part of the first phase of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, Israeli media reported.
According to Israel’s official public broadcaster, the former three captives were carrying commemorative gifts and Palestine flags given to them by Hamas fighters before their arrival in Israel.
These gifts reportedly included a map of the Gaza Strip, photos of the captives during their detention in Gaza, and a certificate of appreciation.
Earlier on Sunday, the Israeli military also announced that it had received the three women from Red Cross teams. Hamas released them from Gaza as part of the first phase of the prisoner exchange deal between the two sides.
During the handover, the released captives appeared in good health—unlike many Palestinian prisoners previously freed by Israel, who bore visible signs of torture, abuse, and starvation, with some released in a state of psychological breakdown.
This is not the first time Hamas has demonstrated respectful treatment of Israeli prisoners. In November 2023, the movement released a group of captives during a week-long truce that lasted until early December. The humane treatment of captives during their detention gained significant attention around the globe.
According to media reports and testimonies from some of the released Israeli captives, Hamas made efforts to meet their basic needs, including food, healthcare, and respectful treatment.
The ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel, which began Sunday morning, is set to last 42 days in its first phase. Negotiations for subsequent phases are expected to follow.
Later last night, Israel released 90 Palestinian prisoners, including 21 children, following Hamas’ release of the three female captives.
By the end of the first phase of the ceasefire, Israeli prisons is set to be emptied of all Palestinian women and children prisoners.
