DaysofPal- Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem has urged U.S. President Donald Trump to use his influence to compel Israel to halt what the movement describes as ongoing violations of the Gaza ceasefire agreement and to ensure the implementation of the remaining provisions aimed at ending the war.
In a statement on Thursday, Qassem welcomed Trump’s comments regarding Hamas’s commitment to the ceasefire, describing them as a positive indication of international recognition that the movement remains serious about fulfilling the terms of the agreement.
The ceasefire framework, announced by Trump in September 2025, outlined a broader roadmap for ending the conflict, including the release of Israeli captives, phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, reconstruction efforts, the establishment of a technocratic administration, and wider security arrangements.
Hamas maintains that it has adhered to its obligations under the agreement since the first phase took effect in October 2025, while accusing Israel of repeatedly breaching the ceasefire and obstructing progress toward subsequent stages of the deal.
Although efforts to advance the agreement have continued, disputes reportedly persist over several key issues, including the scope of Israeli withdrawal, reconstruction mechanisms, and long-term security arrangements in Gaza.
The ceasefire followed nearly two years of devastating war in Gaza, which Palestinian officials say has left more than 73,000 Palestinians dead and 173,000 injured, with widespread destruction across the territory and severe damage to much of its civilian infrastructure.
