DayofPal– Hamas military spokesperson Abu Obaida warned on Friday that half of the Israeli captives held by the resistance in Gaza are currently located in areas recently targeted for evacuation by the Israeli army.
He declared that Hamas would not relocate the captives and would instead maintain their detention under “strict but highly dangerous” security conditions.
“If Israel values the lives of its prisoners, it must enter immediate negotiations for their safe evacuation or release,” Abu Obaida stated in a televised message, afding that “The warning has been given.”
Abu Obaida laid the blame for the prisoners’ precarious situation squarely on the Israeli government, accusing Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration of obstructing a previously established agreement.
He clarified that Israel’s refusal to uphold the terms of a January accord, purportedly capable of securing the release of many captives, has jeopardized any progress toward a resolution.
The statement arrives as Israel ramps up its military atrocities across Gaza, announcing a plan to fragment the territory into designated zones, a move widely condemned by humanitarian organizations as a mechanism for further displacement.
Thousands of families have been forced to flee once again from eastern areas under relentless aerial bombardment and artillery shelling.
Friday marked another bloody chapter in the war, with Israeli airstrikes killing nearly 100 Palestinians in a single day. Just 24 hours earlier, a strike on a school sheltering displaced families reportedly resulted in a massacre of 100 wounded and killed, deepening the humanitarian catastrophe and drawing fresh outrage from international observers.
The humanitarian toll in Gaza continues to soar, with no clear end in sight. Calls for a ceasefire have intensified globally, but efforts to halt the atrocities remain mired in political deadlock.
