DaysofPal — The General Petroleum Authority in the Gaza Strip warned of serious humanitarian and economic consequences following the continued halt of cooking gas supplies to the territory, saying the shortage threatens the lives and livelihoods of more than two million residents.
In a statement, the authority said Gaza was already facing a severe shortage in cooking gas even before the complete stoppage of supplies.
According to the authority, the quantities entering the enclave since the ceasefire have covered only about 30 percent of the actual demand, leaving a deficit estimated at nearly 70 percent of the population’s needs.
Officials warned that the full suspension of deliveries could trigger a major crisis affecting food security, public health, and daily living conditions across the enclave.
The situation is particularly concerning during the holy month of Ramadan, when demand for cooking fuel typically increases.
The authority stressed that the continued prevention of gas deliveries constitutes a clear violation of the ceasefire agreement and further intensifies the humanitarian burden on Gaza’s population at a time when relief measures are expected rather than additional restrictions.
It called on international organizations, humanitarian bodies, and mediators to intervene urgently and pressure the Israeli occupation to reopen supply channels and ensure the immediate and regular flow of cooking gas into the Gaza Strip.
The authority also warned that if the situation continues, it could lead to severe consequences that may be difficult to contain, urging swift and responsible action before conditions deteriorate further.
