DaysofPal- Counting the dead has become a daily struggle as Israel pummels northern Gaza amid an intensifying extermination campaign.
The Health Ministry in Gaza reported that 115 Palestinians were killed and 487 injured in the most recent 48-hour period.
It added that many people are still trapped under the rubble and on the roads as rescuers are unable to reach them.
So dire are conditions in Beit Lahiya that Dr Marwan Sultan, director of Beit Lahiya’s Indonesian Hospital, warns that more patients may die due to Israeli actions against the hospital.
“The Israeli occupation army prevents the entry of fuel and medical supplies to the Indonesian Hospital and cuts off electricity to staff and patients,” he said. “The Israeli occupation army is still besieging the hospital, and dozens of patients may die.”
Despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate cease-fire, Israel has continued its aggressive assault on the Gaza Strip following an attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7, 2023.
The ongoing Israeli offensive has displaced nearly the entire population of Gaza, exacerbating a blockade that has caused severe shortages of food, clean water, and medical supplies.
Israel’s offensive in Gaza has killed at least 42,718 people and 100,282 wounded, according to local health authorities. The war has destroyed large areas of Gaza and displaced about 90% of its population of 2.3 million people.
