DaysofPal- The death toll from Israel’s war on Gaza has risen to 72,289, with 172,040 people injured since the start of the genocide in October 2023, according to the latest figures released by Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
In its daily update, the ministry reported that hospitals across the Gaza Strip received four newly confirmed fatalities and 12 injuries over the past 24 hours. The figures reflect only those casualties who were able to reach medical facilities.
Since the ceasefire announced in October 2025, at least 713 people have been killed and 1,940 injured, the ministry said. It also confirmed that 756 bodies have been recovered during this period, many from areas that had previously been inaccessible.
Despite these updates, the ministry warned that an unknown number of victims remain trapped under rubble or lying in the streets. Emergency and rescue teams continue to face severe difficulties reaching affected areas, leaving many casualties unaccounted for. Officials stressed that the official figures represent only a partial count, with the actual toll likely higher due to ongoing access constraints.
Alongside the humanitarian toll, developments on the ground have further complicated conditions for Gaza’s population. Since the ceasefire, Israeli occupation forces have established seven new military positions along the separation line, with at least five of them prepared for long-term operational use through infrastructure work, including land leveling and paving.
In the months that followed, Israeli deployment extended beyond the declared line, accompanied by the placement of large concrete barriers, widespread destruction of buildings, and continued displacement of residents. These measures have significantly reduced the living space available to Palestinians in Gaza.
An estimated 2.1 million people are now confined to less than half the area they inhabited before the war, facing increasingly harsh humanitarian conditions in a densely crowded environment.
