DaysofPalestine – The Government Media Office in Gaza has sounded the alarm over the devastating impact of Israel’s continued closure of all border crossings with the enclave, warning that the blockade is pushing food security, healthcare, and essential services to the brink of collapse.
In a statement, the office described the situation as having “catastrophic consequences,” particularly for food distribution and access to clean water.
According to officials, 85 percent of Gaza’s 2.4 million residents have lost access to basic food supplies after humanitarian aid deliveries were halted.
Additionally, more than 90 percent of the population is now without clean drinking water following the destruction of 719 water wells by Israeli forces.
The crisis extends to the healthcare sector, where 34 hospitals and 80 health centers have been completely destroyed, rendering them non-operational.
The blockade has also prevented the entry of critical medical supplies and specialized surgeons, further crippling an already overwhelmed healthcare system.
Meanwhile, the destruction of sewage networks has significantly increased the risk of disease outbreaks.
“We call on the United Nations, human rights and humanitarian organizations, and all free nations to immediately pressure the occupation to open the crossings and allow the entry of humanitarian aid, before this humanitarian catastrophe turns into a widespread famine and an unprecedented disaster in modern times,” the statement urged.
With the situation deteriorating rapidly, humanitarian groups have echoed calls for urgent international intervention to prevent further loss of life and an impending large-scale humanitarian disaster.
