DaysofPal- Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip have reached a devastating new level of brutality, with medical sources confirming that more than 200 people have been killed or reported missing since dawn on Friday. The two-day death toll now stands at 250, as the Israeli army intensifies its campaign across the besieged territory.
According to medical sources, 75 Palestinians were killed in air raids launched by Israeli forces since Friday morning, 55 of them in the northern Gaza Strip. The areas of Beit Lahia and Jabalia refugee camp were heavily bombarded, with multiple strikes hitting densely populated residential zones.
The strikes have targeted populated homes in Beit Lahia and Jabalia refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip since dawn today.
In one of the most harrowing incidents, the Israeli army shelled displaced civilians as they were fleeing after being forced to evacuate the western areas of Beit Lahia. The images showed that the Israeli occupation army committed a massacre against the displaced people; artillery fire targeted civilians in transit.
Civil defense and ambulance teams were seen desperately attempting to rescue the injured and recover bodies amid a dire lack of equipment. Inside the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza, photographs revealed bodies piled on the ground, testifying to the scale of the tragedy.
The Civil Defense reported that a two-story house in Jabalia was flattened, with all its inhabitants buried underneath. “No signs of them were found,” they said.
All parts of Gaza are being targeted
Gaza Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Basal described the situation as systematic annihilation. “The occupation forces are targeting anyone who moves in the northern Gaza Strip,” he said, adding that “there are missing persons that civil defense crews cannot reach… All parts of the Gaza Strip are being targeted and systematically killed.”
In the southern city of Khan Younis, an Israeli raid struck a tent housing displaced people in Al-Amal neighborhood, killing one Palestinian and injuring several others, including a critically wounded victim.
These events come just a day after 127 Palestinians were killed in another wave of attacks, which included direct strikes on two hospitals, six schools, and three shelters housing displaced families.
In total, 250 people have been killed in just two days, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
Dr. Munir al-Borsh, the ministry’s director general, described the situation as unprecedented, saying that the Gaza Strip is witnessing the worst massacres of ethnic cleansing. In an interview with Al Jazeera, Dr. al-Borsh also accused Israel of using modern and internationally banned weapons.
“The occupation is using modern and internationally banned weapons to target civilian facilities,” he stated, calling for an international investigation into the attacks.
He noted a disturbing increase in birth defects among newborns, linking it to the alleged use of prohibited weapons.
Israeli media suggests that the violence might intensify even more in the interim. Channel 13 reported that the Israeli army is preparing to expand the scope of fighting in Gaza. The Maariv newspaper quoted a military source saying that the “extensive air strikes across the Gaza Strip are preparatory measures for future activity.”
Earlier this month, Israel’s Political-Security Cabinet approved a plan to “take control of the Strip and retain territory,” aimed at exerting pressure on Hamas to release detainees held in Gaza.
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli campaign, backed unconditionally by the United States, has resulted in nearly 173,000 deaths and injuries, the majority being women and children. Over 11,000 people remain missing.
But the tragedy goes beyond numbers. Entire neighborhoods have been erased, Gaza’s infrastructure obliterated, and the healthcare system has collapsed. Famine is spreading rapidly under a suffocating blockade that bars the entry of life-saving humanitarian aid.
‘The repeated targeting of residential homes, particularly during night hours, reveals a deliberate policy of depopulating Gaza,” human rights observers note.
“The consistent pattern of strikes, lack of prior warnings, and the frequent extermination of entire families are clear markers of an intent to destroy, core to the legal definition of genocide.”
Despite the mounting evidence, Israel continues to operate with impunity, shielded by powerful allies including the US, UK, France, and Germany. These countries provide military and political cover, supplying arms and vetoing accountability mechanisms in international forums.
There are more and more calls for justice, but they go unanswered as the bombings go on and Gaza’s suffering worsens. The amount of evidence increases with every day, revealing the scope of the crime. However, justice has yet to be served, and the offenders are still free.
