DaysofPal- Iran responded to the assassination of its Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei with a calculated military strike targeting deep inside Israel from the first day of the conflict. The Iranian operation left extensive destruction across multiple areas, signaling the start of a potentially open confrontation.
Israeli media reported one civilian death in the Tel Aviv area, while emergency services confirmed 121 people injured on the first day of the operation, which Israel named “Lion’s Roar.” Sirens sounded across central Israel, and explosions were reported in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and surrounding areas.
According to multiple Hebrew media sources, one strike in Tel Aviv caused between 21 and 27 injuries, including two in critical or serious condition, three moderate injuries, and several minor injuries from shrapnel and debris. Conflicting reports highlighted the challenges in confirming accurate numbers immediately after the attacks.
Images and video footage showed significant damage on a Tel Aviv street, with shattered building facades, burned-out vehicles, and a large crater caused by a missile impact. Damage included a nine-story residential building and the Beit HaBima theater in central Tel Aviv. Firefighters and rescue teams worked to extinguish fires and evacuate the injured.
Damage extended beyond Tel Aviv. Channel 14 reported shrapnel falling on a residential building in the Sharon region without injuries. Another missile hit near the settlement of Beit Shemesh in occupied Jerusalem, and reports indicated an impact near a military camp north of the West Bank. Israeli police also detected debris from intercepting missiles in the Gush Dan region and central Israel.
In response, the occupation army deployed personnel from the Home Front Command, including regular and reserve forces, to affected areas to conduct search and rescue operations. Emergency teams assessed building damage and coordinated evacuation efforts.
Channel 12 reported a 210 percent increase in calls to psychological support hotlines following the Iranian missile strikes, indicating widespread panic among the civilian population. Reports also noted that approximately 150,000 Israelis were stranded abroad after the closure of Israeli airspace and suspension of flights.
Israeli occupation authorities imposed a media blackout on the exact number of casualties, missiles fired, and impact locations. The unfolding events suggest a widening confrontation, with Tehran seeking to establish a new deterrence equation after targeting the top of its adversary’s power structure.
