DayofPal– The Gaza Civil Defense has declared a complete suspension of its operations in northern Gaza, citing Israeli threats against their personnel and the continued relentless bombardment.
This halt has plunged thousands of residents into a dire situation, stripping them of essential humanitarian services as conditions in northern Gaza worsen dramatically.
In a troubling statement, the Civil Defense reported that Israeli forces in the Sheikh Zayed area had abducted five of their personnel, whisking them away to an unknown location.
Compounding the crisis, the sole fire truck still operational in northern Gaza came under fire from Israeli tanks, which unleashed shells that ignited the vehicle, leaving it engulfed in flames.
The statement further disclosed that three Civil Defense workers went missing after being directly struck by an Israeli drone in Beit Lahiya. Communication with them has been severed, leaving their fate shrouded in uncertainty.
In a separate incident, a missile launched from an Israeli drone targeted Civil Defense teams in northern Gaza, injuring three personnel.
Before the attack, the drone had issued an ultimatum for the workers to abandon their vehicles and halt all operations. The strike occurred as the situation intensified in the Sheikh Zayed area, where displaced civilians are currently besieged by Israeli forces.
The Gaza Civil Defense has urgently called upon international humanitarian organizations, such as the Red Cross and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), pleading for immediate intervention to safeguard their personnel and restore vital services in northern Gaza.
With Civil Defense operations suspended, more than 150,000 residents in northern Gaza now find themselves without crucial emergency and rescue services. This has heightened their vulnerability amid relentless Israeli airstrikes and shelling.
