DayofPal—Israel has installed 23 cranes mounted with remotely-operated machine guns in Gaza to shoot civilians since the start of the war on the Gaza Strip.
The Israeli large military cranes were established approximately 30 meters (98 feet) tall, in areas under Israeli control along eastern Gaza.
According to local reports, these elevated structures are equipped with remotely operated weapons or surveillance systems, allowing forces to monitor wide areas and fire from high altitude over long distances.
Residents say the cranes have been used to open fire frequently on tents, streets, and exposed residential areas, making movement in surrounding neighborhoods increasingly dangerous.
According to reports from human rights groups and Gaza-based journalists killed at least two children.
Researchers at the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights also said they have documented several cases of the guns being used to attack civilian areas, resulting in deaths and injuries, the New Arab reported.
Unicef said that, in June, a 12-year-old girl had been shot in the chest with a crane-mounted gun while in her tent.
Gaza-based journalist Tamer Nahed said new cranes were installed around mid-June.
“A very dangerous new nightmare we are living in Gaza City, and no one in the world is paying attention to it,” he wrote on X.
He added: “There is no place to hide, and not a single moment of safety.”
Three people had been killed by the cranes in the space of two days, Nahed added, including a five-year-old girl playing near her home.
“We have become an open testing ground for their new weapons.”
