Days of Palestine – Jerusalem
Guardians of Jerusalem in Palestine and the Youth Movement called for mass mobilization against the Israeli flag march scheduled to be held on May 29 in Occupied Jerusalem.
Guardians of Jerusalem in Palestine stressed the need to address the Israeli Judaization plans in the occupied city, saying that the flag march will not pass.
For its part, the Youth Movement called for a large youth gathering in Bab al-Amud area to foil the planned Israeli Judaization march.
The Israeli occupation authority has earlier given permission for the far-right settler groups to march through the heart of the main Palestinian thoroughfare in Jerusalem’s Old City.
The Office of Internal Security Minister Omer Barlev said the march would take place on May 29 along its “customary route” through Damascus Gate.
Each year, thousands of Israeli far-right groups participate in the march, waving Israeli flags, singing songs, and in some cases, chanting anti-Arab slogans, as they pass by Palestinian onlookers and businesses.
The march is meant to celebrate Israel’s occupation of Jerusalem in the 1967 war. Israel subsequently annexed the city in a step that is not internationally recognized.
