Palestinian administrative detainees Khalil Awawdeh and Raed Rayan continue their open-ended hunger strike in Israeli prisons in protest of their administrative detention without charge or trial.
Khalil Awawdeh, 40, resumed his hunger strike for the 15th day. On June 21, Awawdeh suspended his open hunger strike after 111 days as he received promises from the Israeli occupation authorities to release him.
Two days later, he resumed his open hunger strike as the Israeli occupation authorities canceled the agreement to release him. Awawdeh’s health condition is deteriorating.
Raed Rayan, 27, continues his open-ended hunger strike for 101st day running. Rayan is facing serious health conditions as he is held inside the Ramleh prison clinic and suffers from severe weight loss, and a lack of fluids, vitamins, and proteins.
About 682 out of 4700 Palestinian prisoners are held under administrative detention in Israeli prisons without charge or trial. Since 1967, Israeli occupation authorities have issued about 54000 administrative detention orders against Palestinians.
