DaysofPal- Amnesty International has warned that the Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip amount to ongoing genocide against the Palestinian population, stressing that the international community “must not be deceived” by political statements or talk of a ceasefire.
The organization said that evidence on the ground shows that systematic violations against civilians continue unabated.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Amnesty said Israeli forces are still imposing harsh living conditions on Palestinians in Gaza that are aimed at “physically destroying them.”
These conditions include the ongoing destruction of homes and critical infrastructure, as well as the deliberate starvation of the population through restrictions on the entry of food, water, medicine, and fuel.
The organization added that Israeli occupation continues to enforce severe limitations on the entry of humanitarian aid and essential services, leading to a deepening humanitarian catastrophe. The health and emergency sectors, it noted, have collapsed under the pressure of relentless need and scarce resources.
According to Amnesty, at least 374 Palestinians, including 136 children, have been killed in Israeli attacks carried out after the announced ceasefire in Gaza. The organization said these figures show the Israeli failure to abide by the ceasefire and highlight the continued targeting of civilians.
Amnesty further reported that Israeli forces are currently deployed across roughly 58 percent of the Gaza Strip, while civilians are confined to small, overcrowded areas that make up less than half of the territory. These zones lack basic services and essential humanitarian needs.
The group concluded its statement by urging the international community to take urgent action to halt Israeli crimes, ensure the immediate entry of humanitarian assistance, and hold those responsible for violations, including war crimes and acts amounting to genocide, accountable.
