Unlike the previous president, the Biden administration has voiced its stance against the annexation of East Jerusalem and the west bank and called the establishment of settlements on the Palestinian territories’ land as it is: an occupation.
In light of the stressful times in Jerusalem as Israeli raids and distractions of Al-Aqsa continues during the Muslims’ holy month of Ramadan. The IOF has assaulted and hurt hundreds of worshipers as they were performing their prayers, resulting in angering or arresting them.
The Israeli settlers also were bent on performing a sacrifice for Passover in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa which in turn provoked Muslims as they felt that this was a flagrant disrespect for the sanctity of the vicinity
In a photo posted later on Twitter harries shows a picture celebrating Passover with her husband and people from her office, making it the first time for a VP to celebrate a Jewish holiday in their residence.
What stands out, though, is a bottle of wine featured on the ensemble presented on Harris’s dining table of what seems to be Psagot Winery’s Malbec red wine.
Psagot Winery is located just outside of the West Bank settlement of Psago, and it was the site of a controversial visit from then-Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in November 2020.
As a show of appreciation, he had a wine named after him. Such settlements in the West Bank, however, are illegal under international law. the whole act of annexation is too.
Sources reached out to the vice president’s office to ask for verification and were referred to a Saturday night statement by Harris spokesperson Herbie Ziskend
‘The wine served at the Seder was in no way intended to be an expression of policy,’ Ziskend wrote.
If the wine came from Psagot, as the label appears, Harris and Emhoff’s choice would be a withdrawal from President Joe Biden’s ‘determined’ opposition to Israeli settlements.
The State Department sharply reprimanded an announcement from Tel Aviv late last year about further expansion into the West Bank
Why Muslims are so bent on not having Jews perform their religious performances in the courtyards of Al-Aqua comes in part as a result of the religious sensitivity of the region but also because it was previously agreed upon on Camp David the splitting of Jewish areas and Islamic ones.
Muslim and Christian Palestinians are fighting the change of this status quo for it proposed by ultranationalist groups that care less about the religious sanctity of the area and are more bent on taking over more land. taking over parts of Al-Aqsa, an altar-sensitive part of the Muslim belief being the third holiest place in Islamic religion would hold a president that if Al-Aqsa is up for grabs then all is up for grabs.
why Harris’ image spiked so much controversy comes to the fact that after Bidens so-called anti-annexation stance buying wine that is grown over illegally seized land, and watered with unfairly distributed water shows one thing: that the president current administration is nonverbally showing support of the current illegal land grab, occupation, and apartheid. this comes as no surprise for the Biden administration literally made no real steps into proposing solutions for the occupation issue, nor has it spoken of a two-state solution.
It’s worth mentioning that this grapevine takes up a big chunk of Palestinian deserved water. Water that Palestinians have no access to and when are, they are buying it back from the Israeli occupation for a hefty price.
