American singer David Rovics released a song on Saturday, August 13th, 2022, titled “Smashing Elbit Systems”, to demand the closure of the factories of the Israeli El-Bayt Company, which produces weapons and technology that the Israeli army relied on in its violations against the Palestinian people.

Rovics appeared – through his account on Twitter – wearing the shirt of the British “Action for Palestine” movement, which carried out more than one raid on the Israeli-based Elbit weaponry factories in various British cities during the past few months.

In his song, Rovics calls on his followers to raise their voices and support the closure of the Israeli arms factory, talking about the work of the “Action for Palestine” movement that targeted Elbit factories, and other partner factories in Britain.

David Rovics, an independent American singer and music composer of Jewish origins, though he describes himself as “anti-Zionist”, and presented a number of songs in support of the Palestinian cause, in which he addressed the rights of the Palestinians, and rejected the massacres of the Palestinian people in the second intifada in September 2000, and calls out the duplicity Standards in international policies towards refugees.

His music relates to political and humanitarian themes, such as the 2003 Iraq war, anti-globalization, and issues of social justice.  Rovics has criticized the policies of former President George W. Bush, the Republican Party, and the Democratic Party.

Rovics is subjected to fierce media campaigns against his positions, and sees that he does not have a large audience in the United States due to the scarcity of presenting his songs in the American media– which is dependent on commercial advertisements, so he is keen to display his work on free media to spread his message.
