The spokesman for the Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” Abdel Latif Al-Qanoua condemned the United States’ intention to remove the extremist Zionist “Kahana Kach” movement from the lists of terrorism.
Today, Tuesday, Al-Qanoua stressed that this decision once again “proves” Washington’s “blatant bias” towards the occupation and its extremist groups, which have shed the blood of Palestinian people and practiced systemic racism and murder against them.
Al-Qanoua called on the international community to criminalize and prosecute the leaders of this terrorist movement, and all extremist Zionist groups for the crimes they committed against the Palestinian people, and not to exempt them from the lists of terrorism for doing so is a flagrant devotion to double standards, discriminative against our people and their just cause.
The United States is preparing to remove five organizations, including the “Kahana Kach” terrorist movement, founded by the extremist rabbi Meir Kahane, from its list of foreign terrorist organizations sometime next week.
Some of these organizations–to be removed from the terrorism list–once posed significant threats and killed hundreds, if not thousands, of people in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, the Associated Press said.
It’s worth noting that Kahane Chai or Kach is a radical Orthodox Jewish group that was founded by ultranationalist Israeli Rabbi Meir Kahane in 1971. He led the group until his death in 1990. Members of the group have killed, attacked, or otherwise threatened or harassed Arabs, and Palestinians, but the organization has been dormant since 2005.
AP stated that although these organizations are no longer active, the decision in itself invokes a political sensitivity for the administration of President Joe Biden, and the countries in which these organizations have been active, as it could provoke criticism from the victims of these organizations’ attacks, and their families.
The extreme right-wing movement bears fascist slogans and has called for the displacement of Arabs from the country (transfer), and for the enactment of racist laws against them. it also sought to turn Israel into a state of Jewish law, and called for the annexation of all the historical land of Palestine as a part of the ‘Jewish sovereignty, claiming that it is the “Land of Israel”.
It’s worth noting that the decision comes at a hyper-sensitive time as it coincides with the 74th memory of Al-Nakba. such political decisions are seen as minimizing the atrocities the Palestinians have been through and experienced.
