Khalil al-Hayya, head of Hamas in the Gaza Strip, stated that the Palestinian resistance’s commitment to the ceasefire agreement remains conditional on Israel’s adherence to its terms and its immediate halt to the ongoing crimes and violations committed daily against Gaza’s civilian population.
Speaking amid intensive communications between Hamas leadership, regional mediators, and international actors, al-Hayya said the movement has clearly expressed its rejection and condemnation of Israel’s continued aggression against Gaza, which he described as being justified by flimsy and fabricated pretexts.
He placed full responsibility on the Israeli occupation for obstructing efforts to address the issue of resistance fighters in Rafah, an area currently under Israeli control.
Al-Hayya warned that the Israeli military’s near-daily massacres, coupled with repeated breaches of the ceasefire, pose a grave threat to any attempt to stabilise the truce and undermine the efforts of mediators seeking to prevent a return to full-scale aggression.
He stressed that the resistance’s respect for signed agreements necessarily requires Israel to fulfil its own obligations, cease its attacks, and provide at least minimal guarantees for the protection of Palestinian civilians. Ignoring Israel’s violations, he said, only weakens any political or security path aimed at ending the assault and restoring a measure of stability.
His remarks come as Gaza continues to bleed despite the ceasefire declared on 11 October 2025. On Saturday alone, more than 30 Palestinians were killed in a wave of Israeli airstrikes across different areas of the Strip.
Gaza’s Civil Defence confirmed that most of the victims were women and children, once again paying the heaviest price of Israel’s aggression. The Ministry of Interior in Gaza also announced that five police officers were killed and 15 others were injured after Israeli forces bombed the Sheikh Radwan police station in Gaza City — a direct assault on a civilian institution tasked with maintaining order amid chaos.
As it has done repeatedly, the Israeli military attempted to justify its crimes by claiming its attacks were a response to a ceasefire violation, alleging that eight fighters emerged from tunnels in Rafah
Hamas firmly rejected these claims, describing them as blatant lies intended to provide cover for massacres against the Palestinian people. The movement said Israel’s narrative reflects deep contempt for mediators, guarantor states, and all parties involved in what it called the so-called “Peace Council.”
For Palestinians in Gaza, the ceasefire has brought no safety, no accountability, and no relief. While Israel speaks of restraint, Gaza continues to bury its dead — children, women, civilians, and public servants — under the rubble of an aggression that never truly stopped.
