The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) condemned Saturday, April 1, 2023, the Israeli occupation forces’ attack on the AL-Shahid Faisal Al-Husseini Stadium in Al-Ram town, in northern occupied Jerusalem, last Thursday.
The confederation said, “We condemn the unjustified and horrific attack of the Israeli forces against the soccer players and fans during the Abu Ammar championship final match between the Balata Center and Jabal Al Mukaber teams at Faisal Al-Husseini International Stadium in Al-Ram town.”
It indicated that “Tear gas and rubber-encased bullets were used by the Israeli forces during the assault, which led to the match being halted as several Palestinian players and fans, including children and women, suffered from breathlessness due to tear gas inhalation and had to be treated with both pitchside and in hospital.”
AFC called on the international community to end the Israeli violence against the Palestinian people.
It affirmed “its persistent solidarity with the Palestinian Football Association and the entire football community in Palestine.”
