“An Emirati bought the team – this shows that things are changing quickly,” Netanyahu tweets

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, commented on Abu Dhabi’s ruling family's step, on Monday in taking a stake of around 50 percent in Israeli football club Beitar Jerusalem, whose fans are known for racist chants against Arabs and Muslims, saying on twitter: "An Emirati bought the team – this shows that things are changing quickly."

Beitar Jerusalem is a bastion of Israel’s political right-wing and a group of supporters known as “La Familia” has been openly abusive towards Israel’s Arab minority.

Moreover, Beitar's fans have seen 12 years of bad performances and results, and without a genuine change in the club's management and financial structure the team's future was looking dire.

According to the "sport1" website, some of the club's fans sprayed offensive and racist graffiti on the outer wall of Beitar Jerusalem's stadium, saying: "Mohammed is Dead", "Death to Arabs", "Fuck Dubai", and "You can't buy us!!! $ Don't fuck with us!"

The Beitar team relies on the eastern sects who usually live in poor neighborhoods and are known for their hatred of Arabs, and most of them belong to the religious parties and the Likud Party.

It is noteworthy that the UAE, Bahrain and Israel signed normalization deals in mid-September, with the US President Donald Trump.
