Gaza registered 270 new infections from the coronavirus in the besieged Gaza Strip in the last 24 hours, reported the heath ministry in Gaza on Monday.
In a statement, the Health Ministry said the territory’s virus count rise to 8740 confirmed cases, including 39 deaths, and 5687 recoveries. The number of active cases has reached 3014.
The ministry affirmed the death of a citizen, Amira Khader Karout, 63, at the European Gaza Hospital, from Gaza City due to COVID-19 infection.
The ministry called on residents to pursue social distancing to help stem the spread of the virus.
