DaysofPal – Rescue teams in the Gaza Strip recovered the remains of 99 Palestinians on Monday from beneath the rubble of a residential building belonging to the Abu Sharia and Al-Hasayna families in the Sabra neighborhood, south of Gaza City, following search operations carried out under extremely difficult humanitarian and field conditions.
The house had been hit several times during the war by Israeli airstrikes at different times, including an attack on 7 June 2025 and an earlier strike in October 2023, according to the rescue teams.
The successive Israeli bombardments killed dozens of residents, while many others remained trapped beneath the collapsed structure for months.
Rescue workers said recovery efforts continue to face major obstacles due to the extensive destruction caused by the airstrikes, as well as a severe shortage of heavy machinery, equipment, and specialized resources needed to reach those still buried under the debris.
They stressed that thousands of victims remain missing beneath the ruins of destroyed buildings across the Gaza Strip, with many sites still inaccessible because of the scale of the devastation and the difficult conditions on the ground.
Official figures indicate that approximately 8,000 victims are still believed to be trapped beneath the rubble throughout Gaza.
Despite limited resources, rescue teams continue searching for the missing while appealing for heavy equipment and specialized machinery to accelerate recovery operations.
