US Congress Approves $750M Arms Package for Israel

DayofPal—The US House of Representatives has approved the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a $1.15 trillion defense spending bill that includes $750 million allocated to strengthening the US defense partnership with Israel.

Under the approved allocation, $500 million will be directed toward missile defense systems, while $100 million will support counter-drone capabilities. Another $100 million is designated for underground operations, and $50 million will fund emerging military technologies.

The legislation also introduces a new provision, Article 219, which establishes an “executive agent” within the Pentagon to oversee permanent coordination between the US Department of Defense and Israeli military entities.

The funding package has drawn criticism from some Democratic lawmakers, who objected to expanded military cooperation with the Israeli government amid ongoing concerns over US foreign policy and arms support.

The package could deepen institutional ties between the two militaries and raise questions over US defense priorities and sovereignty, and the way and targets Israel will use it for.

The bill passed by a vote of 216–212, with most Republicans backing the measure and the majority of Democrats voting against it. The legislation now moves forward as part of the broader US defense authorization process.

Research from projects like Brown University’s Costs of War shows the U.S. provided at least $21.7 billion in direct military aid to Israel from October 2023 through late 2025.

Deliveries included tens of thousands of guided missiles, assault rifles, and heavy munitions such as 2,000-pound bombs (Mark 84 and BLU-109) central to Israeli military attacks.
