DaysofPal- Hamas has condemned the continued Israeli targeting of Palestinian journalists in the Gaza Strip, which comes as a systematic crime aimed at silencing the truth and concealing Israeli violations against civilians.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Movement said the recent targeting of Al Jazeera Mubasher cameraman Ahmad Washah reflects a broader pattern of attacks on media workers. It described the incident as part of an ongoing campaign against Palestinian journalism.
According to the statement, the targeting of journalists represents an attempt to “erase the truth and prevent the documentation of crimes and violations” committed against Palestinians amid the ongoing war in Gaza.
Hamas said Palestinian journalists have become direct targets of Israeli military operations, accusing Israel of pursuing a deliberate policy to obstruct media coverage.
It argued that such actions follow increased international and regional media exposure of the humanitarian situation in the enclave.
The group emphasized that journalists and media workers are protected under international humanitarian law and relevant international conventions, adding that continued attacks demonstrate Israeli disregard for legal norms and accountability.
Hamas called on the United Nations, as well as international human rights and media organizations, to take urgent action to stop attacks against journalists and civilians in Gaza. It also urged efforts to ensure protection for media workers and to hold Israeli leaders accountable in international courts.
The statement comes amid ongoing Israeli attacks in Gaza, where journalists continue to report under increasingly dangerous conditions.
