DaysofPal- A high school student in the Gaza Strip was killed on Monday morning in an Israeli airstrike that struck Gaza City while she was on her way to take one of her final secondary school examinations.
Local sources reported that Raghad Ashour was killed in the strike as she was heading to sit for a ministry-administered exam at a café, one of the locations students have been relying on to access electricity and internet services required for online testing.
Separately, the Palestinian Red Crescent Society said Israeli warplanes also killed a woman and wounded three others when they targeted a vehicle in front of Al-Rahab Mall, near the Jawwal telecommunications company building in western Gaza City.
The Red Crescent said its medical teams treated the injured at the scene and continue to monitor developments in the area.
Meanwhile, five new violations of the ceasefire agreement have been reported in Gaza since dawn. The incidents included attacks targeting civilians in Gaza City and gunfire in the eastern areas of Gaza City and Khan Younis.
The incidents come as Gaza’s high school students continue to sit for their final examinations under exceptionally difficult conditions. The ongoing war has forced authorities to replace traditional in-person exams with a fully electronic system.
Many students are required to travel to cafés and other locations that provide electricity and internet access in order to complete their exams after spending the past three years without regular classroom instruction in their schools.
Palestine’s secondary school examinations began on Saturday, with more than 89,000 students participating from the occupied West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and abroad.
According to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, 51,499 students are taking the exams in the West Bank, while 37,698 students are registered in the Gaza Strip. An additional 1,941 Gaza-based students currently residing outside Palestine are also participating.
Ministry spokesperson Sadiq al-Khudour said that all technical and logistical arrangements for the examinations had been completed. He noted that exams for Gaza students are being conducted entirely online through the “Wise School” digital platform.
