DaysofPal- The Hamas movement condemned the “horrific massacre” carried out by Israeli occupation forces against displaced civilians in Gaza City on Saturday evening, following an airstrike that killed at least six Palestinians and injured several others.
In a press statement, Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qassem said Israeli occupation forces had targeted tents sheltering displaced families, including women and children, in Gaza City’s Al-Rimal neighborhood. He described the attack as part of the ongoing genocidal campaign against civilians in the Gaza Strip.
Qassem emphasized that Israel continues to violate its commitments under the ceasefire agreement, noting that the latest attacks coincided with meetings in Cairo aimed at discussing the implementation of the truce. Hamas noted that the timing of the strikes demonstrates an effort to undermine the agreement and derail mediation efforts.
The Hamas spokesperson also criticized the disregard for the efforts of mediators and the so-called “Peace Council,” arguing that the continued attacks threaten prospects for implementing the ceasefire.
He called on the mediating and guarantor countries to take a clear public stance regarding repeated Israeli violations and to exert meaningful pressure on Israel, which the movement holds responsible for obstructing the implementation of the agreement.
Local reports state that an Israeli airstrike on Gaza City’s Al-Rimal neighborhood on Saturday night resulted in at least six Palestinian deaths and numerous injuries.
The attack followed a deadly day of Israeli strikes across the Gaza Strip. Earlier on Saturday, nine Palestinians were reported killed in separate Israeli airstrikes, including eight in Gaza City, amid continued reports of ceasefire violations.
In one of the deadliest incidents, seven Palestinians, including two women, were killed and more than 15 others injured when an Israeli drone struck a tent sheltering displaced civilians in the Al-Rimal neighborhood west of Gaza City.
