DaysofPal- Dr. Bassem Naim, a member of Hamas’s political bureau, has sharply criticized Nikolay Mladenov, saying he is not qualified to oversee any form of transitional administration for the Palestinian people.
Naim said that Mladenov is “not worthy of being responsible even for one day” for managing a transitional phase concerning Palestinians, criticizing his positions on the future governance of the Gaza Strip.
In a statement posted Wednesday on the social media platform X, Naim questioned Mladenov’s ability to handle complex negotiations.
“How can someone tasked with managing complicated negotiations succeed in his mission while adopting the position of a biased and questionable individual?” he said.
Naim also addressed Mladenov directly, adding: “Gaza will not be a line on your résumé for career advancement. If the mission is beyond your capacity, then step aside.”
Earlier on Wednesday, Mladenov, who serves as coordinator of the “Peace Council” established by U.S. President Donald Trump following the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza, stated that Hamas must disarm, a position that fully aligns with Israeli demands.
His remarks have drawn criticism from Hamas officials, who view such statements as undermining efforts to address the future of Gaza amid ongoing political and humanitarian challenges.
