Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has signed Palestinian national team jerseys in a gesture of solidarity with an amputee football team in Gaza.
The team, Gaza al-Irada FC — whose name translates to “Gaza of Will” — shared the news in a post on Instagram, describing the moment as a powerful connection between athletes in Gaza and the wider global football community.
“From the heart of Gaza to the summit of world football, our heroes in the Gaza Will Amputee Football Team received a special message and signature from the ‘philosopher’ Pep Guardiola,” the club wrote.
The players voiced deep appreciation for the Spanish manager’s support, saying the signed shirts carry far more than symbolic value. For them, the jerseys represent recognition of their resilience and determination to pursue their dreams despite life-altering injuries.
“This is not just a shirt,” the team said in a statement. “It is a badge of honor for every player who has overcome injury and continued chasing his dream. Thank you, Guardiola, for seeing in us what we see in ourselves — heroes who believe nothing is impossible.”
