DayofPal—Israeli forces killed at least two Palestinians in eastern Gaza City on Monday, as reports of ongoing violations of the ceasefire agreement continue to mount, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.
The agency said that the two were shot by Israeli troops in the Shujayea neighbourhood, where the Israeli army is attempting to draw a new border line near the Yellow Line.
Their deaths bring the number of Palestinians killed in Gaza over the past 24 hours to at least 12, including several bodies recovered from the rubble following earlier attacks.
Gaza Government Media Office stated that the attack is part of repeated breaches of a United States-brokered ceasefire that took effect on October 10.
Israel has violated the truce 875 times, the office added, citing air and artillery strikes, demolitions of civilian property, and hundreds of attacks involving gunfire directed at civilians.
Since the ceasefire began, at least 411 Palestinians have reportedly been killed and more than 1,100 wounded, according to Gaza interior ministry.
Meanwhile, humanitarian conditions across the Gaza Strip continue to deteriorate with hundreds of thousands of displaced families facing acute shortages of food, medical supplies, and shelter, particularly as winter storms exacerbate already dire living conditions.
Aid agencies say restrictions on the entry of humanitarian assistance remain largely in place and any progress is “fragile”.
The Gaza Government Media Office also reported that fewer than half of the aid trucks agreed upon under the ceasefire have entered the territory, far below the daily quota stipulated in the agreement.
In this regard, the United Nations has renewed calls for unrestricted humanitarian access, warning that ongoing military attacks and limited aid deliveries are disrupting relief efforts in the war-torn enclave.
UN officials say more than a million people urgently need safe and adequate shelter, while health authorities report severe shortages of medicines after widespread damage to hospitals and clinics.
According to Gaza’s Ministry of Health, since October 2023, Israeli genocidal operations in Gaza have killed more than 70,000 Palestinians and injured over 170,000 others.
