DayofPal—The Israeli army carried out a large-scale demolition of residential buildings in the city of Khan Younis in southern Gaza on Monday evening, while escalating artillery and tank attacks in the northern and eastern parts of the enclave.
Witnesses said Israeli troops used explosives to destroy several residential structures east of Khan Younis, causing extensive damage to surrounding areas.
The demolitions were part of continued military operations targeting densely populated neighborhoods in the city, especially in the eastern parts near the Yellow Line.
At the same time, Israeli artillery shelled eastern areas of Jabalia in northern Gaza, while tanks opened fire on the Tuffah neighborhood east of Gaza City, amid an ongoing army assault across the Strip.
The conditions are drastically worsening as Gaza faces a severe humanitarian crisis, marked by acute shortages of shelter, essential services, and basic supplies due to the prolonged blockade and persistent onslaughts.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has waged a genocidal war in Gaza, which human rights groups describe as an unprecedented campaign involving mass killing, sheer destruction, forced displacement, and immense abuses and arrests, carried out with US and European support.
While Trump is pushing for the deal’s second phase, the Israeli army’s attacks have persisted despite repeated international calls and rulings by the International Court of Justice demanding an end to the war.
The war has resulted in more than 242,000 Palestinians killed or wounded, the majority of them women and children, in addition to more than 11,000 people reported missing.
Over a million and a half Gazans have been displaced, as widespread destruction and severe food shortages have pushed the territory deeper into a humanitarian catastrophe.
