Freed Gaza Nurse : Abu Shabab Militia Kidnapped me, Handed me to Israeli Forces

DaysofPal- Recently freed Palestinian nurse Tasneem al-Hums has revealed the details of her abduction and subsequent handover to Israeli forces, saying her arrest was intended as pressure on her father Marwan al-Hums.

In her first testimony following her release on Thursday, Tasneem said she was kidnapped in the Al-Mawasi area of Khan Younis by a group led by Yasser Abu Shabab, whom Palestinian families in the area have accused of collaborating with Israeli forces.

“Yasser Abu Shabab’s gang kidnapped me and handed me over to the occupation. My arrest was only meant to pressure my father,” she said.

According to her account, she was seized suddenly by the group and transferred directly to Israeli soldiers, the same method used earlier when her father, Dr. Marwan al-Hums, was abducted.

Tasneem stated that after her arrest, she was moved between more than five Israeli prisons and spent most of her detention in solitary confinement, where she endured harsh conditions and degrading treatment.
On Thursday, the Israeli military released five detainees from Gaza after months of detention under severe conditions that included malnutrition and intense physical abuse.

The Palestinian Prisoners Office said the freed detainees were transported to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah for urgent medical care.

Among them was the nurse Tasneem al-Hums, who had been abducted last month from Al-Mawasi by a special unit linked to Abu Shabab’s group, according to her family.

The al-Hums family held Israeli occupation and its collaborators fully responsible for Tasneem’s kidnapping, adding that her arrest came as part of a pattern that began with the abduction of her father by the same group. Dr. Marwan al-Hums remains imprisoned.

Emotional scenes unfolded as Tasneem was reunited with her family, appearing exhausted and bearing visible signs of mistreatment during her detention.

But the family’s relief was overshadowed by the absence of her father, who remains in Israeli custody.
More than 10,000 Palestinians, including women and children, are currently held in Israeli prisons.

Human rights groups have documented widespread torture, medical neglect, starvation tactics, and inhumane conditions that have led to numerous deaths over the past two years.
