DaysofPal- More than 150 writers contributing to The New York Times have announced a collective boycott of the newspaper’s opinion section, accusing the publication of “biased and unethical coverage” of the Israeli ongoing war on Gaza.
In a joint statement released on Tuesday, the group said its decision was driven by the paper’s “persistent alignment with the Israeli narrative” and its failure to provide balanced reporting on the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The writers vowed to withhold their work from the publication until the newspaper “takes responsibility for its biased coverage and commits to honest and ethical reporting on the U.S.-Israeli war on Gaza.”
“Any so-called challenge to the newsroom or editorial board in the form of an article is, in fact, permission to continue this negligence,” the statement read. “Only by withholding our work can we mount an effective challenge to the dominant power that the paper has long used to whitewash the lies of the United States and Israel.”
The signatories also called on The New York Times to address what they described as “anti-Palestinian bias” within its newsroom and to adopt new editorial standards for covering Palestinian issues. Additionally, they urged the paper’s editorial board to advocate for a U.S. arms embargo on Israel.
The boycott marks one of the most significant acts of protest by contributors against a major American newspaper since the start of the Gaza war, reflecting growing discontent among journalists, academics, and writers over Western media coverage of the conflict.
