DaysofPal- The United Nations has received clearance from Israel to begin substantially increasing the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza starting this Sunday, according to a report by The Associated Press.
A senior UN official, who requested anonymity in order to share details not yet public, confirmed that the aid will include some 170,000 metric tons of supplies already staged in neighbouring countries like Jordan and Egypt. Humanitarian agencies have long awaited permission from Israeli forces to resume their operations in full.
In recent months, the UN and its relief partners have struggled to meet demand, delivering only 20 % of the required aid to Gaza, UN humanitarian chief Tom Fletcher reported.
