DaysofPal- At least 36 Palestinians, including journalists, were injured on Friday following coordinated attacks by Israeli forces and illegal settlers near Nablus in the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry.
The assaults occurred in the towns of Beita, Huwara, and Deir Sharaf. Two victims were wounded by live ammunition, while others suffered injuries from physical assaults, according to the ministry’s statement.
Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that settlers attacked farmers harvesting olives in Beita’s Jabal Qamas area. Three vehicles were torched, including one belonging to AFP photographer Jaafar Ishtayeh, who described the violence as unprecedented in his 30-year career.
The Palestine Red Crescent treated seven injured individuals, including journalists Ishtayeh and Wahaj Bani Moufleh. WAFA added that two additional journalists experienced tear gas inhalation during the attacks.
Israeli troops also stormed the area, deploying tear gas and stun grenades, leading to multiple cases of suffocation among residents. Elsewhere, Israeli forces raided Nablus and Tubas, arresting several Palestinians, including six olive harvesters in Kafr Nima near Ramallah.
These incidents highlight a recurring pattern of violence during the olive harvest season—a critical period for Palestinian livelihoods. Rights groups have long accused settlers, often accompanied by Israeli troops, of escalating attacks during this time.
More than 700,000 settlers live in illegal settlements across the West Bank and East Jerusalem, in violation of international law.
