DaysofPal- Several Italian cities witnessed large-scale demonstrations and strikes as trade unions led nationwide actions to denounce the Israeli genocide in Gaza and to demand economic and diplomatic sanctions against the Israeli occupation.
In Rome, hundreds of high school students gathered outside the central Termini station, waving Palestinian flags and chanting slogans such as Free Palestine.
Demonstrations also spread to Milan and Turin in the north, Florence in the center, as well as Naples, Bari, and Palermo in the south.
In Genoa and Livorno, dockworkers halted port operations and blocked shipping terminals in a show of solidarity with Palestinians. The capital also saw widespread transport disruptions, with bus services suspended in several areas and partial stoppages on the metro network.
According to Italian news agencies, the wave of protests and strikes reflects mounting public pressure on the Italian government to adopt a tougher stance on the Israeli policies in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Meanwhile, a survey conducted by the Only Numbers institute revealed that 63.8% of Italians view the humanitarian situation in Gaza as extremely grave, while 40.6% expressed support for official recognition of a Palestinian state.
