DaysofPal- The Hamas Movement has denounced recent remarks by the U.S. President Donald Trump on the Israeli military assault on Gaza and the issue of Israeli captives, describing them as “a blatant bias toward Zionist propaganda” and “a stark embodiment of double standards.”
In a statement on Tuesday, Hamas said Trump’s comments ignored what it called “ethnic cleansing” in Gaza, where nearly 65,000 civilians, mostly women and children, have been killed during the ongoing war.
The Movement accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of deliberately undermining all efforts to reach a deal that could lead to a prisoner exchange and an end to what it termed a “genocidal war” on the Gaza Strip.
Hamas cited as evidence the recent attack on Qatar and an assassination attempt against members of its negotiating delegation during discussions over Trump’s latest proposal.
Hamas stressed that the fate of Israeli soldiers held captive in Gaza lies solely in the hands of Netanyahu’s government, warning that the “systematic destruction” of Gaza also endangers their lives.
The Movement said Netanyahu bears full responsibility for the safety of Israeli captives, while it held the U.S. administration directly accountable for fueling the war through its political and military support for Israel and what it called a campaign of deception to cover up Israeli war crimes.
