DaysofPal- The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza has reached new and devastating heights, as the Ministry of Health reported on Thursday that 100 Palestinians were killed and 603 others injured in the past 24 hours alone.
The latest casualties bring the overall death toll to 61,258 and the number of wounded to 152,045 since the Israeli occupation launched its assault on the besieged enclave on October 7, 2023.
According to the ministry, 9,752 people have been killed and 40,004 injured in just the past five months, from March 18, 2025, until today, underscoring the intensity of ongoing attacks and the collapse of humanitarian conditions across Gaza.
But the Israeli bombs are not the only threat as famine is tightening its grip, particularly in northern Gaza, where international aid is either blocked or severely restricted. Desperate civilians, many of them children and the elderly, have been seen forming long lines near aid trucks or distribution points, only to be met with bullets and shrapnel.
Several recent incidents have seen starving crowds targeted and killed while trying to access food, drawing international outrage.
Witnesses describe scenes of horror: people lying lifeless next to empty sacks of flour, parents shielding their children from incoming fire as they wait for bread.
Health officials and humanitarian workers are warning that mass starvation is no longer a looming threat, but a present reality.
Moreover, medical teams are reporting malnourished patients arriving in droves, many with complications that cannot be treated due to the near-total collapse of the healthcare system. Hospitals are running on fumes, lacking not only fuel and electricity but also the most basic medical supplies.
“This is no longer just war, this is the systematic destruction of life,” said a spokesperson from Gaza’s Ministry of Health.
“To deny food and then target the starving is a crime against humanity. Gaza is being suffocated.” He added.
Calls for international intervention are growing louder, with aid organizations and rights groups demanding an immediate ceasefire, the full opening of humanitarian corridors, and the protection of civilians, particularly those seeking aid.
As the world watches, Gaza’s suffering continues, not only under the weight of bombs, but under the silent, slow agony of starvation.
