Once again, the night sky over Gaza was set ablaze by Israeli airstrikes, as residents in several parts of the Strip scrambled for safety.
The latest bombardment hit especially hard in central Gaza, particularly the Nuseirat refugee camp, where three separate strikes flattened residential buildings while people were still inside.
Survivors described the attack as nothing short of an earthquake. One man who made it out alive said the building he was in “shook like the ground was tearing apart beneath us.” In just one of those buildings, eight people were killed.
Emergency workers are still digging through the debris, and the death toll is likely to rise as more family members continue searching for their loved ones.
Two other strikes claimed six more lives—all from the same family.
Further north, in Jabalia, relentless airstrikes and artillery shelling have turned entire apartment blocks into dust. Three members of one family were killed there, as attacks have only intensified since the most recent ceasefire was broken.
Elsewhere in Gaza City, a fisherman lost his life early this morning as he tried to pull his boat into the water. Once a lifeline for thousands of families, the sea has become just as dangerous as the land.
Hospitals, already battered by months of war, are beyond overwhelmed. Medical teams are struggling to treat the flood of injured patients. Even basic medications like painkillers have run out, and staff say people are dying in emergency rooms simply because they can’t get the care they need.
As we write this, the sounds of destruction continue. In Shujayea—a once-bustling neighborhood in eastern Gaza City—Israeli forces are systematically demolishing homes. What used to be a crowded residential area has now turned into a lifeless field of rubble and concrete.
