DaysofPal- The Palestinian Prisoners’ Media Office revealed on Tuesday that several Palestinian detainees have been subjected to food deprivation for periods of a week or more during military interrogations.

According to the office, the practice has been used as a means of pressure to force detainees to provide confessions before being transferred to Nafha Prison.

In a statement, the office said that denying prisoners food during interrogation constitutes a serious violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions. It described the practice as a form of cruel treatment prohibited under international law and called for an international investigation into these violations, as well as accountability for those responsible.

The office also highlighted the harsh detention conditions inside Nafha Prison, including repeated repression measures, restrictions on the performance of religious practices, and collective punishments targeting all detainees.

These measures, it said, include systematic starvation policies that further exacerbate prisoners’ suffering.
According to the statement, prisoners in Nafha Prison are also facing the spread of scabies and various skin allergies amid ongoing medical neglect and deteriorating hygiene conditions. The office warned that the lack of adequate healthcare and sanitation has worsened detainees’ health conditions.

Additionally, the prison administration was accused of restricting prisoners’ access to the outdoor yard and providing poor-quality food. The use of shared shaving tools among detainees was also cited as a factor increasing the risk of disease transmission within the facility.

The office further noted that prison suppression units continue to carry out raids on prison sections and use tear gas and batons against detainees as part of an ongoing policy of abuse affecting various aspects of prisoners’ daily lives.
