DayofPal– In a strongly worded statement issued amid mounting domestic dissent in Israel, a Hamas movement has directly accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of deliberately prolonging the war in Gaza to serve personal political interests.
The movement asserts that both Israeli captives and Palestinian civilians are paying the price for his refusal to accept a negotiated resolution.
“The escalating calls within the occupying entity to stop the war and free the prisoners confirm Netanyahu’s responsibility for prolonging the war and for the suffering of his prisoners and our people,” the group stated, in what appears to be a pointed reference to the growing unrest within Israel’s military ranks.
The comment follows an unprecedented move by over a thousand Israeli special forces reservists, who voiced support for air force personnel facing dismissal after urging an end to the military campaign in Gaza.
The statement denounced what it described as Netanyahu’s cynical manipulation of the war, declaring that “the blood of Gaza’s children and the occupation’s prisoners are victims of Netanyahu’s ambitions to remain in power and to escape prosecution.”
With ceasefire negotiations repeatedly stalling, the movement reiterated its long-standing position: that any agreement to release Israeli captives held in Gaza must be tied to a full cessation of war.
“The equation is clear: the release of captives in exchange for a cessation of the war. The world accepts it, but Netanyahu rejects it,” the movement declared, warning that “every day of delay means more killing of defenseless civilians among our people and an unknown fate for the occupation’s prisoners.”
The statement underscores the widening internal and international pressure on Israel’s leadership as the war nears the half-year mark, with calls intensifying for a diplomatic solution to end what has become one of the deadliest war in the region’s recent history.
