DaysofPal- The Israeli occupation army released approximately 80 Palestinian detainees into the Gaza Strip on Thursday morning, according to local sources.
The detainees, who had been abducted during Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza, were freed at the Kissufim crossing in eastern Khan Yunis, in the southern part of the enclave.
Among those released, 10 former prisoners arrived at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza. These individuals had been transferred from Sde Teman and Negev prisons and were reportedly in poor health. Images circulating in the media showed one prisoner seated in a wheelchair, visibly exhausted and unable to move.

Media sources reported that the group had been held in Israeli prisons since October 7, 2023. One of the released detainees described the dire conditions they endured behind bars: “There was no comfortable sleep, no food, and no water,” he said, appearing weak and emaciated.
He further recounted the abuse they suffered at the hands of prison authorities: “Every week, they would gather us, spray us with gas, and abuse us. It was torture on torture.”
This latest release follows a previous wave of prisoner releases that took place in January under a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement between the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli government.
Since the launch of Israel’s ground operation in Gaza on October 27, 2023, thousands of Palestinians have been detained, including women, children, health workers, and members of the civil defense.
The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society reports that over 2,000 Palestinians from Gaza remain in Israeli prisons.
