DaysofPal- The Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor has revealed that the Israeli occupation has committed 9,300 massacres against Palestinian families in the Gaza Strip over the past 18 months. These atrocities, described as “horrific violations,” have led to an unprecedented humanitarian disaster, with entire families wiped out and mass destruction of homes, hospitals, and infrastructure.
Dr. Rami Abdo, head of the monitor, told Palestine Online that Israeli occupation has systematically targeted families, erasing them from the civil registry by killing every member—fathers, mothers, children, grandparents, and grandchildren. According to preliminary statistics, 2,092 families, comprising 5,967 individuals, have been annihilated. Additionally, 4,889 families have been left with only one surviving member, with a total of 8,980 martyrs from these families alone.
These figures come amid ongoing Israeli aggression, which resumed intensively on March 18 after a fragile ceasefire brokered by Qatar, Egypt, and the United States collapsed. The Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that since October 7, 2023, the death toll from Israel’s genocidal war has surpassed 50,000 martyrs, including tens of thousands of children and women, with another 113,000 wounded. Over 11,000 people remain missing, feared buried under rubble or detained without a race.
Ethnic Cleansing and Genocide
Abdo condemned the systematic targeting of families as part of a broader policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide aimed at erasing Palestinian identity and imposing a new demographic reality. He emphasized that these crimes constitute a blatant violation of the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, which defines genocide as acts intended to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.
“The act itself reveals the intent to destroy the Palestinian group,” Abdo said. “Killing entire families, destroying homes, cutting off food, water, and medical supplies—all of this points to a clear effort to exterminate Palestinians.”
Catastrophic Humanitarian Situation
Abdo warned of a catastrophic humanitarian situation exacerbated by the blockade and denial of aid. Residential neighborhoods have been reduced to rubble, with over 70% of buildings destroyed, leaving hundreds of thousands homeless. Hospitals and medical facilities have been deliberately targeted, further crippling healthcare services. The lack of clean water, food, and medicine has plunged Gaza into famine and disease outbreaks, creating what Abdo described as “an unparalleled humanitarian catastrophe.”
He noted that during the latest surge in violence, more than 440 Palestinians were killed in less than 24 hours, including over 200 children in just 48 hours. The relentless bombing campaign continues to claim innocent lives daily, violating fundamental human rights enshrined in international law.
Systematic Destruction and Denial of Basic Rights
Israeli crimes go beyond military operations; they represent a deliberate strategy to deprive Palestinians of their livelihoods and future. Abdo pointed out that Israeli occupation has trampled on international justice and human rights conventions, operating with impunity due to global inaction. “The world deals with this tragedy with despicable double standards,” he said. “No fundamental right of the Palestinians is protected anymore—not even the right to life.”
- Right to Housing: Entire neighborhoods have been razed, displacing millions.
- Right to Health: Hospitals are bombed, medicines are scarce, and doctors work under impossible conditions.
- Right to Food and Water: Blockades prevent essential supplies from entering Gaza, leading to widespread starvation and dehydration.
International Complicity in Genocide
Abdo accused the international community of failing not only to stop these crimes, but also to actively enable them through silence and complicity. “This is not just a shameful failure—it is an actual mandate to continue the massacres,” he said. Despite overwhelming evidence of war crimes and crimes against humanity, no meaningful action has been taken to hold the Israeli occupation accountable.
Even during the ceasefire period, which the Israeli occupation repeatedly violated, the Israeli occupation killed 175 Palestinians in 42 days and injured hundreds more. The so-called “pause” merely masked ongoing efforts to impose unbearable living conditions designed to annihilate the Palestinian population.
Resumption of Aggression: A New Phase of Brutality
The resumption of Israel’s genocidal war marks a new phase of brutality aimed at destroying the remaining foundations of life in Gaza. With each passing day, the occupation tightens its grip, pushing the besieged population closer to annihilation. Abdo concluded by calling for urgent intervention, warning that time is running out to save the Palestinian people from complete extermination.
“The genocide did not stop during the ceasefire—it merely slowed down,” Abdo said. “Now, with renewed aggression, we see even more brutal strategies aimed at wiping out whatever remains of life in Gaza. Immediate action is needed to stop this horror before it’s too late.”
