DayofPal– The Israeli military assault on Jenin and its refugee camp has continued for the 35th consecutive day, resulting in the killing of 27 Palestinians, including one by Palestinian Authority forces. More than 50 others have been injured, while thousands have been forcibly displaced, Jenin’s media committee reported.
Fir the first time since 2002, Israeli forces have deployed tanks to the Jabriyat neighborhood and the outskirts of Jenin camp, carrying out large-scale demolitions and road construction after destroying homes and entire residential blocks.
The systematic destruction of over 483 homes, either partially or completely, us deemed as an effort to erase the identity of the Jenin refugee camp.
Analysts say the widespread targeting of infrastructure, roads, homes, and private properties suggests that the assault is not merely for security purposes but part of a broader campaign of destruction and forced displacement against the Palestinian people.
As a result of the ongoing assault, 20,000 Palestinians, approximately 90% of the camp’s population, have been displaced, facing severe shortages of water, electricity, food, and other essential supplies, particularly affecting children.
The attacks have also led to a collapse in healthcare and education services, with over 2,000 students unable to attend their UNRWA-run schools due to the destruction.
In addition, at least 172 residents of Jenin and its camp have been arrested since the beginning of the invasion, with dozens more subjected to field interrogations by Israeli forces.
The humanitarian crisis in Jenin continues to worsen as Israeli military operations show no signs of abating, raising concerns over the long-term consequences for the displaced population and the city’s future.
