The Palestinian Prisoner’s Society (PPS) released a statement indicating that as of the start of August, approximately 9,900 Palestinian prisoners are being held in Israeli prisons. This figure excludes detainees held in Israeli occupation military camps in Gaza.
According to the PPS, the number of Palestinians under “administrative detention” has reached 3,432. The organization’s statement, cited by the Wafa news agency, highlighted the conditions of female prisoners, noting that there are 86 women in Damon prison alone, including a pregnant woman. The total number of female prisoners in Gaza camps remains uncertain due to a lack of confirmed data.
The report also sheds light on the plight of detained children, stating that at least 250 Palestinian minors are currently imprisoned.
Furthermore, the PPS noted that the Israeli occupation military officially recognizes 1,584 detainees from Gaza, though it is believed that many more are held in camps. The exact numbers remain unverified, underscoring the ongoing challenges in obtaining comprehensive data on Palestinian detainees in Israeli custody.
